The exhibition “Philippe Cognée, L'œuvre du temps” takes place at the Musée Paul Valéry in Sète, from Saturday June 21 to Sunday November 2, 2025.
Philippe Cognée's work has never before been analyzed through the prism of temporality, despite its omnipresence in his oeuvre. This exhibition brings together over a hundred works, tracing his artistic career from the 1980s to the present day. This exceptional retrospective explores the artist's work from an unprecedented angle: his relationship with time.
Located on the slopes of Mont Saint-Clair, on a terrace overlooking the Marine Cemetery and the Mediterranean Sea, the Musée Paul Valéry boasts an exceptional view and location. Its architecture, designed by architect Guy Guillaume in the early 1970s, follows in the footsteps of Le Corbusier. The Musée Paul Valéry houses over 7,000 works of art. In addition to the Fine Arts collections, which include 800 paintings and almost 3,000 drawings, there are special collections such as those of Paul Valéry and Salah Stétié.
