Presented as part of the Images de Justice festival, the exhibition La conviction de l’ombre (The Conviction of Shadows) is based on Damien Marchal's immersion in the judicial world. The artist presents a collection of works combining large-format paintings and texts set in ceramic. A central theme emerges from this experience: speech—that which is spoken, that which is silenced, that which surfaces. What do we perceive when we listen intently in a courtroom? And what are we really trying to hear?
