This catalog presents in detail the Pavillon Noir, an architectural work designed by Odile Decq and exhibited for the first time in October 2019 on the Place de la Concorde in Paris, as part of the FIAC Hors les Murs. The pavilion, made of mirrored black glass, plays on the notions of transparency and reflection, offering an immersive experience where the interior and exterior merge.
The concept is to adapt the idea of “copy-paste” that we use every day when working on our computers, while adding a new dimension: interpretation.
The pavilion is identical in shape and size to those traditionally installed in castle parks. It plays a double game: because the black glass absorbs the reflections of the surrounding landscape, the pavilion initially appears to be a completely hermetic object. The black glass, on the other hand, is a semi-silvered mirror that surprises us by being completely transparent from the inside.
