Vera Molnar's catalog “Une ligne...” was published on the occasion of her exhibition at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Caen from May 26 to September 2, 2018.

In Vera Molnar's minimalist vocabulary, the line plays a major role. It takes on every possible direction, running across paper, canvas, or walls. It can be flexible, shaky, or straight; short or long; thin or thick. It can be drawn with a pencil or a brush dipped in gouache or paint, or it can be generated by a computer. It sometimes simulates writing, taking the form in certain works of a taut thread or the juxtaposition of torn pieces of paper. Claude Monet's millstone, the profile of the Sainte-Victoire mountain, dear to Cézanne, and the magic square of Dürer's Melancholia in turn inspire new linear structures, subject to multiple variations. This omnipresent line is “like a curriculum vitae, reflecting all my past activities: the sum of my life” (1997).
