Pierre Galopin's book Salonfäheg, published in 2021 by Filigranes Éditions, is a unique monograph that explores the relationship between pictorial works and their integration into domestic spaces, particularly the living room. The term “Salonfäheg,” borrowed from German, literally means “suitable for the living room” or “socially presentable.” This artistic project was initiated by Pierre Galopin in 2019 in Luxembourg, with the aim of examining the place of painting in the domestic space, particularly the living room.
The artist offered to lend his works to private individuals in exchange for photographs showing the paintings installed in their everyday environment. This participatory approach aimed to question the decorative function of art and its integration into everyday life. Photographer Laurent Grivet accompanied this project by capturing these installations in situ.
