Gerhard DOEHLER : Recent works

Presented in a solo exhibition in Rennes for the first time in 2009, Gerhard Doehler returns in spring 2013 to present his recent creations at the Oniris gallery.

Gerhard Doehler's works combine cheerfulness and lightness: large aluminium circles painted and fixed to the wall - usually in pairs - but almost always off-centre. Circles in various but orderly colours; red, white or black, punctuated with brightly coloured lines more or less spaced out or regular contrasting stripes. The vibrations are brought about by the colour and light emanating from the circles. The execution is perfectly adjusted. The acrylic paint is sprayed, the layers of varnish are sanded. Repeated several times, these operations give the colour a rare intensity.
