Overview
On the occasion of this last exhibition before the gallery closes for renovations throughout the summer, we invite you to (re-)discover the work of Frédéric Bouffandeau, Soo Kyoung Lee and Guillaume Moschini.
This group show presents three artists from the same generation at the Oniris gallery. They have different approaches to color, material and form, yet share a common artistic heritage. The exhibition highlights each artist's specificity, while at the same time creating a dialogue and a link between their own worlds.
- Frédéric Bouffandeau [b. 1966] offers a body of work whose supple form can be likened to plant and floral figures. His work is not impervious to new media. He creates sculptures in aluminum and neon, as well as paintings and drawings. With a desire to explore painting and space, his work began with the shape of a flower, which quickly became the matrix for all his work.
- Soo Kyoung Lee [born 1969] is an artist who sees abstraction as a universal place. The forms she produces are not the fruit of any prior work, but she paints them as they emerge as she works. Against an often monochrome background, the shapes are just waiting to be formed.
- Guillaume Moschini [b. 1970] paints freehand with a vivid, contrasting palette. On paper or canvas, he represents two unbalanced rectangles, each creating new tonalities. Moschini's motifs seem to be inexhaustible, as they are endlessly repeated. In his work, Moschini doesn't seek to create patterns, but rather new colors that give rise to the work's rhythm.
