François Morellet: Exceptional multiples - solo exhibition

This tribute exhibition offers an opportunity to rediscover the artist’s visual ingenuity through a selection of exceptional works—silkscreen prints, engravings, and rare editions. The collection highlights the fundamental principles of his work: a strong geometric rigor, often set against random procedures that introduce shifts, rhythm, and the unexpected into the composition.

“Multiples d'exception, exceptions multiples” (Exceptional multiples, multiple exceptions), the title of the exhibition presented at the Oniris gallery, is constructed like a palindrome in French, a play on language and symmetry particularly dear to François Morellet.

In 2026, the centenary of François Morellet's birth will be marked by an extensive program of exhibitions and events entitled “100 x Morellet,” initiated by the Centre Pompidou in collaboration with Studio Morellet and numerous French and international institutions. This collective project aims to reexamine the artist's legacy, his dialogue with architecture and public space, and the lasting influence of his work on contemporary generations.
