autres mesures - contemporary music festival

at various venues in Rennes - January 15 to February 17, 2026

In 2026, the Autres Mesures festival will enter its second decade, confirming its place in the Rennes events calendar.

True to its original intention of breaking down barriers to contemporary music, it offers around fifteen events, half of which are free to attend, showcasing the full diversity of expression in our era: written, improvised, instrumental, and electronic music, at the crossroads of scholarly and popular inspiration, bold but always welcoming.

The dialogue with the visual arts and cinema will once again be highlighted through a four-week tour of the main exhibitions currently on display at various venues in Rennes. Once again, this panorama of free and adventurous music is sure to satisfy the curiosity of an audience that has grown in size and diversity with each edition.

On Friday, February 6, Oniris will host the Autres Mesures festival for the second time for a unique concert by guitarist Ryan Kernoa.

Présentation

In his tenor guitar solo, Ryan Kernoa explores a shifting and immersive soundscape with a style that is both delicate and hypnotic. With a background in theater and as a composer for film and documentaries, he plays with repetition, creating music in perpetual motion where each motif seems to reflect itself infinitely.

This play of resonances plunges us into an acoustic space with no escape, where every sound becomes an echo. Time stretches out and becomes limitless. Unstable, it dances and inhabits us from within, like a game of phasing and dephasing reminiscent of Steve Reich.

A self-taught and multi-faceted guitarist, he regularly participates in performance, theater, contemporary dance, and poetry projects. He brings this multifaceted practice to life, notably with author Stéphanie Chaillou and author Emmanuel Rabu. He is the companion and partner of saxophonist Christine Abdelnour in Split Second.
