The Shape of Time

Centre Pompidou x West Bund Museum - Shangai

November 8, 2019 to November 19, 2024

Entitled The Shape of Time, this exhibition occupies, until May 9, 2021, the second floor of two of the three large white glass and concrete cubes built by British architect David Chipperfield for this project, the first in China of a major foreign museum.

Picasso, Paul Klee, Mondrian, Pierre Soulages, Lee Ufan, Jackson Pollock, Zhang Huan, François Morellet, Aurelie Nemours and Gerhard Richter are exhibited and discussed in an exhibition that is designed to tell the story of a collection, that of the Musée National d'Art Moderne in Paris, and of a vision of the history of art in the 20th and 21st centuries. One hundred and seventy-five works - paintings, but also documents, sounds, videos and multimedia pieces - have been loaned for this occasion by the Centre Pompidou.
