The book La Couleur presque seule by Didier Mencoboni is an exhibition catalog published in 2023 on the occasion of his eponymous retrospective at the Espace de l'Art Concret (eac.) in Mouans-Sartoux, which took place in 2023. This book includes texts in French and English written by Olivier Kaeppelin and Fabienne Grasser-Fulchéri.

La Couleur presque seule explores Didier Mencoboni's artistic approach, which focuses on color, abstraction, and concept. The artist uses various media such as canvas, paper, fabric, mirrors, and Plexiglas, creating works that seek to break out of the traditional frame and invest the surrounding space.

A significant part of the exhibition is devoted to his series ...Etc..., begun in 1988, which now includes more than 2,400 small-format paintings. This series, conceived as a pictorial journal, reflects a relentless quest for variation and chromatic experimentation.

The book also discusses the project La Couleur cinq fois, a public commission from the Centre national des arts plastiques (Cnap), which takes the form of fluorescent monochrome interventions in public spaces, such as posters, bookmarks, confetti, and postcards.
