Vera MOLNAR: Alchemy of the lines

Overview

Throughout the summer of 2019, the "Alchemy of Lines" exhibition explores Véra Molnar's numerous researches on the line for more than seventy years.

Véra Molnar creates a language from calculated, programmed and spontaneous lines. All her work is based on a strict construction in which line and colour are the only structural bases.

Véra Molnar speaks of the alchemy of lines as Arthur Rimbaud spoke of the alchemy of verbs: a common quest to transform banal reality into poetic fiction. However, a certain emotion escapes from her linear compositions, and this feeling is reinforced by accurately chosen titles, adding a touch of poetry to the work.

The "Alchemy of Lines" exhibition offers a journey through Véra Molnar's work through different periods and techniques: computer-generated drawings from the 70s, paintings, works on paper from the 50s or more recent years, and an unpublished sculpture. The exhibited works highlight the importance of serial work, showing the constant search for variation and transformation of forms in recent years.
