Viallat at Bois Orcan

15 km from Rennes

Le Bois Orcan will reopen its doors in 2026 with a special exhibition dedicated to the contemporary French artist Claude Viallat, a leading figure of the Supports/Surfaces movement.

From April 4 to November 1, 2026, nearly fifty recent works will be presented in a unique exhibition layout at the heart of the restored medieval estate.

This exhibition marks Claude Viallat’s return to Le Bois Orcan, twenty-two years after the creation of the stained-glass windows in the Saint-Julien Chapel, visible as soon as one enters the site. The artist now takes over the restored spaces as part of a carte blanche conceived in dialogue with the architecture and history of the site.

Represented by the Oniris Gallery since 1993, Claude Viallat is one of the leading figures in French contemporary art. His work, known for its repetitive forms and varied media, creates a striking contrast here with the medieval atmosphere of the Château du Bois Orcan.

Located just fifteen minutes from Rennes, the Bois Orcan, a listed historic monument, is completing its rebirth after 35 years of restoration led by its owner, Guy Landon.
