they make abstraction: ANOTHER STORY OF ABSTRACTION IN THE 21th CENTURY (by female artists)
MAY 5 TO SEPTEMBER 6, 2021 AT THE CENTER POMPIDOU PARIS
FROM OCTOBER 8, 2021 TO JANUARY 30, 2022 AT THE GUGGENHEIM Museum in BILBAO (Spain)
Under the general curatorship of Christine Macel, with Karolina Lewandowska for photography, this exhibition aims to highlight the contributions of a hundred women artists to abstraction up to the 1980s, with some unseen forays into the 19th century. By focusing on the careers of artists, sometimes unjustly overshadowed, the exhibition proposes to question the established canons and to write another history of abstraction. It highlights the decisive turning points that marked this evolution, evoking both the research undertaken by artists, individually or in groups, and the founding exhibitions.
Among the artists exhibited : Vera Molnar and Aurelie Nemours
