from october 18, 2024 to may 17, 2025
The Artothèque d'Angers celebrates its 40th anniversary. To celebrate this anniversary, the year is marked by an original program. Encounters with artists, mediation, workshops, round-table discussions, exhibitions outside the walls - a host of festive and artistic events await you.
Discover the diversity and richness of the Artothèque's collection through a selection of works spanning some forty years of acquisitions. The first, Traversée #1, runs from May 15 to September 22, 2024, while the second, Traversée #2, runs from October 18, 2024 to May 17, 2025.
Traversée #2 highlights the graphic orientations of the collection, through geometric abstraction from the 70s to today, contemporary drawing and printmaking in all its experimentation.
A tribute is also paid to Joëlle Lebailly, founder and manager of the Artothèque for thirty years. Twelve artists from the collection, who are firmly rooted in contemporary creation and who have been supported by the Artothèque and Joëlle Lebailly, are invited to present a recent work.
Last but not least, the nearby Archives patrimoniales de la Ville d'Angers, located on the second floor of the RU, will be showcasing the history of the Artothèque. This is an opportunity to discover the genesis of this multi-faceted municipal structure.
